Post WWII, Walter Aiken, the nation's leading African American homebuilder constructed homes in both Simpson Heights and a neighboring subdivision called Fairview Terrace. In preparation for the construction of this area, 125 acres of land were purchased, which leapfrogged white neighborhoods. As a result, white homeowners fled the area. African Americans were ultimately able to secure access to land and housing on Atlanta's West side. Simpson heights is located to the North and West of Moseley Mark. Located adjacent to Morehouse, today Simpson Heights consists of many student rentals.
