New Urbanism - Edgewood Retail District and Kirkwood

The Edgewood Retail District and Kirkwood Downtown District both represent "New Urbanism" in their multi-use capacity and design. Both "districts" include apartments (or "work-live space"), coffee shops, restaurants and small businesses. Edgewood is considerably larger with many big box stores, but both provide a "town center" feeling with large sidewalks to encourage pedestrians.

  1. Good photos...but I would have preferred richer discursive captions that direct the viewer to elements of the New Urbanism as outlined in the several relevant readings.
